Huge Breakthrough for Otico’s surgery

 In Cuba

It’s been a while since we’ve made any public declarations regarding our surgery for Otico. Back in the summer, we announced that we had scheduled his surgery for Nov 1, 2016.

On October 1, 2016, we realized there was going to be no way to make that happen.

Due to the unique specifications of this surgery, the hip implant that we intended to secure for the surgery wasn’t going to be right for Otico’s frame. We were going to have to secure a custom implant that is smaller than a normal adult implant. We worked with our supplier, found a company that was willing to work with us, and we’ve waited patiently.

Thanks to DePuy, we can officially say that we can move forward with Otico’s surgery.

We are coordinating with our doctors and contacts within the Ministry of Health to get a date set for Otico. To stay up to date with our work in Cuba, you can sign up to receive One Heart Many Hand emails here.
